HYSLC Fall Classic/HYLSC Fall Breeder's Futurity

The Mission of the Heartland Youth Show Lamb Circuit is to promote an environment that will allow Junior Market Lamb Exhibitors to be actively involved in an ethical, practical and educational summer series of market lamb shows that culminates with a season ending rewards program based on age, overall performance in the show ring and in the educational arena while making the entire experience affordable and enjoyable for all of the participating exhibitors and their families.

Bring your bicycle and enjoy a leisurely bike ride along the Boone River Recreational Trail, a beautiful hard-surface trail from Briggs Woods Golf Course to Nokomis Park and back. This 11mile (round trip) ride will take you along the Boone River, through farmland and forest with water stops along the way. 
 
Explore the interesting history of the Boone River; find the mills; icehouse and bridges that are marked along the trail.  Instructor Lisa Schaa (bio & registration on our website) will entertain you with historical snippet lectures of the area.
 
Ride back to Briggs Woods Golf Course Clubhouse and order off the menu or share your sack lunch with your friends on the patio.

Students will spend the first day experimenting with basic welds and learn the basic skills of welding, and metal cutting. Students will create a small piece of metal art suitable for the outdoor elements. This Sunday workshop will prepare you for the next two sculpture workshops on Monday and Tuesday, so we invite you to sign up for one or both of those as well. Students taking this workshop should have previous welding experience (such as Sunday’s Basic Welding pre-workshop, or other Legacy Learning Welding) and expect to start right in on their project. Students will work with fieldstone and metal to create a garden tower. There will be a variety stones available, but bring some if you are able. 
 
A gourmet dinner will be served in the Hickory Cabin on Monday evening and will be shared with participants from the Writer’s Workshop. Relax and unwind and plan to enjoy a beautiful fall evening around the fire ring with new friends. 
 
Sign up for the Advanced Workshop on Tuesday and get the full experience! You will make a different sculpture every day and then gather at the end to share your accomplishments and celebrate.

This Monday & Tuesday workshop combines the beauty of beautiful Briggs Woods Park with two days immersed in all things literary. The program consists of morning workshops, one-on-one meetings with your instructor and generative exercises. Students in this unique workshop will gather together with the participants in the Legacy Welding Workshop to share ideas, gain inspiration and obtain feedback on your work. 
 
There will be a gourmet dinner Monday evening so plan to relax and unwind and enjoy a beautiful fall evening around the fire ring with new friends. You will share a casual gourmet picnic in the park on Tuesday and meet again at the end of the workshop to share your accomplishments and celebrate the experience!  Instructor James Ellerston bio and registration on our website.

This advanced workshop on Tuesday will focus on creating personal designs for sculpture that may include objects found in the park. You will use a variety of metals and welding techniques or further polish your skills with Instructor Doug Abbott (bio & registration on our website) helping you realize your design ideas. You are invited to bring personal objects of interest to incorporate into your sculpture.

On Tuesday, September 20 at 6:00 p.m., the library will be showing the recent hit film Me Before You, rated PG-13. After losing her job as a waitress, a young woman named Lou is hired to act as a caregiver for Will, a banker who was paralyzed in an accident.
