Come and help clean garbage out of our river as we canoe the Boone River. Meet at Shelter # 1 at Brigg’s Woods Park to register and we will shuttle to Riverside Park.   
What to bring: Sunscreen, water, bug spray, shovel, gloves, hat, sunglasses, and canoes. Park your vehicle in the canoe access parking lot located next to the campgrounds. We will be cleaning up the 4.6 Miles of river from Riverside Park to Brigg’s Woods Park. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt. A limited number of canoes are available on a first come first serve basis. Feel free to bring your own canoe. Children under 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Parents must sign a waiver and medical information form for all youth under 18. All volunteers must abide by IA DNR boating laws. No alcohol consumption is allowed. We hope to be on the river by around 8:00 am.

Tuesday, August 15th at 6:00pm the library will be showing the recently released film Going in Style, starring Morgan Freeman, Alan Arkin & Michael Caine. A heist movie, the film tells the fictional story of lifelong buddies Willie (Freeman), Joe (Caine) and Albert (Arkin). The three decide to buck retirement and step off the straight-and-narrow when their pension funds become a corporate casualty. Desperate to pay the bills and come through for their loved ones, the three men risk it all by embarking on a daring adventure to knock off the very bank that absconded with their money. This movie showing is free of charge. No registration is required, and free popcorn and beverages will be provided. No cost.

Come cheer on our Webster City Lynx fall sports teams at the LYNX Tailgate and Pep Rally!

Tailgate at 6 pm - Hy-Vee will be grilling up food for purchase
Pep Rally at 6:30 pm - Come cheer on your favorite athlete!
Music in the Park at 7 pm - Open Mic available so tune up your instruments or reherse your favorite song to sing!

The week prior to this event, bring your favorite LYNX photo from years past to the Chamber so we can make a copy and add it to our WALL OF FAME that will be on display at the event.  The oldest photo will win CHAMBER BUCKS!

RitaMae Rossman, granddaughter to the late Cora MacFarland, will be generously donating her grandmother’s quilt to Kendall Young Library during a special quilt open house on Friday, August 25 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm in the library’s meeting room.
Cora, a midwife, helped bring MacKinlay Kantor into the world, and a quilt was eventually made from her midwife uniform.
Stop in to view this beautiful quilt, and to help RitaMae commemorate her grandmother on the 100 year anniversary of Cora’s passing.

Playwright Phil Olson of Los Angeles returns to Webster City Community Theatre for a staged reasding of his most recent addition to the "Don't Hug Me" seires of musical comedies.  The public is invited to attend the staged reading at no cost.  

Loween Getter will direct a cast of nine.  With minimal rehearsal time and set, the actors will bring the story of Gunner and Clara Johnosn who own the Bunyan Bar in Bunyan Bay, Minnesots. To supplement their income, they lease a portion of their bar to KOLD Radio.  Bernice, Aarvid and Kanute are regulars at the bar and on-air personalities on "Crappie Talk," "Book Beat," and the news.  When Sal Carducci and his ex-wife Donna arrive from Brooklyn to buy the radio station and open a hotel and lounge, things in Bunyan Bay get interesting!
